Dirt (The Movie)

Last week in class we watched a very fun and educational documentary called Dirt. This movie opens up your mind and more care for things you thought was useless. It shows that dirt is one of the bases of life. Most people take dirt for granted. Without it we would have nothing for trees to grow in so we would have no oxygen. Without dirt we would have no plants or meat because plants need soil to grow and animals need plants to live. Its not just that, soil can do a lot more amazing things, for example, having the wall in your home made from soil will keep your house warm in the winter and cold in the summer. Unlike the concrete which is the opposite, and much more expensive too. One part of this documentary also talked about pesticides and how when farmers spray pesticides on their crops the plants take only a little part, the rest also goes through the soil (killing everything in its way) and goes through into the rivers and  into the oceans killing hundreds of fish that get washed up the next day, but it wont kill jellyfish. We can help dirt by and the environment by making soil from dried leaves, grass, and even paper. Some scientist even made clean and fertile soil from fish insides in only six months. This documentary thought me that soil is not just there because it wants to be, it is there because it needs to be, and it needs to help us, but in order for it to help us, we need to help soil too.
